Wojciech Smarzowski, the filmmaker behind unforgettable productions: "Volhynia", "Traffic Department", "Rose" and the record-breaking hit "Clergy", viewed by over 5 million cinemagoers, is back with the most groundbreaking work of his career. "The Wedding" is a story of love so strong that it goes beyond any constraints, does not fit into any pattern and is more powerful than any obstacle. It is an honest look at the modern world, as well as a dramatic journey into the past that is sure to strike a chord with anyone. As the director himself says, his latest film is "a story about manipulating emotions and a warning against hate speech."

Wedding of Anno Domini 2021. A bevy of tipsy guests let loose on the dance floor to the rhythm of disco polo, bridesmaids fiercely compete with each other in wedding contests, someone records a video of best wishes for the newlyweds. It's a wedding like any other, yet beneath the guise of revelry lurks a bitter truth about us. The bride (Michalina Labacz), in an advanced stage of pregnancy, bent on migrating from the country, observes her husband's antics with growing anxiety. Her father, local businessman Rysiek (Robert Wieckiewicz), has more to worry about this night than just the commotion surrounding his daughter's wedding. A deal of a lifetime hangs by a thread, with not only wads of money but also the happiness of his loved ones at stake. Things also take a turn for the worse due to the actions of guests invited to the ceremony, as senior of the family Antoni Wilk (Ryszard Ronczewski) looks on, flooded by memories of dramatic events from years ago, when he met the love of his life. With every moment, emotions escalate and the innermost feelings are revived, as the stories of turbulent loves of past lovers and new ones intermingle. Gradually, the boundary between what once was and what is now is blurred. The secrets of the past are revealed, spiralling into evil with no escape route. Few people get to see beyond what they believe to be true. And when they do, it usually happens in secret - for fear of consequences and exposure. Dawn will find the protagonists in different condition, emotional state and with a different baggage of experiences. Only one thing is certain - everyone will have to deal with the aftermath of the wedding on their own. The stellar, as always, cast includes: Robert Wieckiewicz, Michalina Labacz, Agata Kulesza, Andrzej Chyra, Ryszard Ronczewski, Arkadiusz Jakubik, Mateusz Wieclawek, Przemyslaw Przestrzelski and the director's latest discovery, Agata Turkot. Behind the camera was the director's regular collaborator, Piotr Sobocinski Jr, the cinematographer of films such as "Volhynia", "Rose", "Traffic Department" and the recently Oscar-nominated "Corpus Christi". The music score was composed by Mikolaj Trzaska, who collaborated with Wojciech Smarzowski on productions such as "Rose", "Traffic Department" and "Clergy". The set design was created by Marek Warszewski, recognised with the Eagle and Golden Lions Polish film awards. His works could be admired in "City 44", "Magnesium" and "The Best".
